There is a modern approach to straightening teeth, and it doesn’t involve wire braces. Invisalign has created a process just for you that uses a custom-made series of aligners to gradually and gently shift your teeth into place. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable, virtually invisible plastic (no metal brackets or wires) and can be taken out to eat, drink, brush and floss. You’ll receive a new set of aligners every two weeks, and you’ll see results in 6-12 months.
You may already be somewhat familiar with Invisalign and how it works, but we’d like to take you through each step of the process and how it can help you. Call Hall Family Dentistry for an Invisalign consultation and find out more about the process so you can be more confident in your decision to choose Invisalign.
The Invisalign Process
When we have determined that Invisalign would be a good choice for you, we’ll start by taking x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth which we will use to map out your treatment plan and create your custom trays.
When you receive your first set of aligners, you will wear them all day, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually move into place.
Every two weeks you will receive a new set of aligners. Simply throw out the old aligners and pop in the new ones! There is no need to come in for a checkup with us every two weeks – we’ll want to see you every six weeks to make sure everything looks good and your teeth are moving as they should.
Every person is different, but the typical treatment plan usually takes about a year for adults. For teens, the treatment time is comparable to that of traditional braces. For the best results, you should wear your aligners for 20-22 hours every day for the entire length of your treatment.
